The Power of Community

One of the biggest changes we’ve seen over the last year has nothing to do with us.  After being married for almost 9 years, you’d think we would have it all figured out… or not.  Still, the biggest impact in our marriage has happened because we have people in our lives who care enough to tell us the truth.  It’s biblical community and accountibility that actually works.  So what does this look like?  For one thing, it means that I have guys in my life who are willing to ask me the hard questions about my “thought life”, dealing with anger, how I manage my time, my money, my kids.  They are there to encourage me, and yes, beat up on me when I screw up (in love of course).  Now imagine how freeing that is for my wife.  She has guys that she can count on to make sure that I am becoming the man God intends for me to be.  That frees her up to do what she does best, which is love and encourage me…   The most important thing I can give her are the phone numbers of some guys that she knows she can count on.  And vice versa.

This is a great resource on community from Watermark Community Church about being willing to tell the truth.  Live changing stuff…
