iPhone 2.0 software thoughts so far…

The iPhone 3G officially becomes available tomorrow, but I just got my hands on the new iPhone 2.0 software for my 1st gen iPhone.  So far, I’m impressed.  The Exchange direct push setup was a snap, asking for just a few pieces of information.  Currently, message are being delivered to my phone faster than my Outlook client directly attached to the network, so I’m impressed that it is working as designed.   Contacts were all pushed from Exchange, and I just accepted my first calendar appointment using the phone.  Nice.

The app store is pretty amazing as well.  Being able to download and install apps directly from the App Store to your iPhone works very well.  So far, I have the Facebook app, iTunes remote, and Twitterrific downloaded and running.  Granted, I downloaded them over a wifi connection, but it only took a few seconds for each.  Also, you can’t beat free.

Once the kiddos are in bed, there will be more time to play.  So far so good.
